JUNIOR Wasps coach Richard Tardy has challenged his youngsters to finish their group campaign on a high by beating Senegal this afternoon at Amahoro stadium.

Rwanda became the first team to reach the semi-finals of the Caf U-17 championship after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Egypt. The victory coupled with last Saturday’s 2-1 win over Burkina Faso consolidated their position at the top of Group A with six points but Tardy insists that it is important to keep the momentum going.

"When you put together a winning run, it is important to keep it going so I have asked the boys not get complacent but to keep playing at the top level,” he said.

"It is true that Senegal is already out of the semi-final reckoning but we still have to give everything tomorrow because topping the group means that we shall play Group B’s runner up.”

Eric Nsabimana, who was sent off against Egypt will miss the game.

Senegal are still chasing for their first point after back to back defeats against Burkina Faso and Egypt.
After losing out to Egypt 1-2 on Saturday, the West Africans went down against Burkina Faso 2-3 to end their dream of reaching the last four and securing that precious slot to the U-17 Fifa World Cup which will be held in Mexico in June.

The other day’s game pits Burkina Faso against Egypt at Kigali Regional stadium.
Both teams have everything to play for as the winner not only qualifies for the semi-finals but also secures a ticket to Mexico.

In his pre-match interview, Burkina Faso’s Portuguese Coach Rui Vieira said, "We are up against a very good side but we know that we have a good chance of beating them if we play to our strengths.”

Meanwhile, Egypt’s coach Abdel Hamid says that they cannot afford to lose the game.
