I commend the authorities and parents for the classroom construction project currently taking place in several schools countrywide. However, the government should embark on a large–scale housing project for teachers the way classroom construction has been given attention.

The problem of teachers’ accommodation is as serious as the classroom problem. Several schools lack staff quarters yet it is  very important to teachers’ general welfare and time management.

Some schools have successfully partnered with parents to construct staff quarters, other schools should do the same. Unless it is also given due consideration, it is likely to affect education standards.
