Gahima was good at respecting promises. When he started school he ordered the bank manager to give Frw42m to Roko Construction Company to build a hospital at Kawangire. This hospital was named after Gahima.

Before Gahima Hospital was built, the villagers used to go to either Gahini Hospital or Kiziguro Hospital. These hospitals are located far away from Kawangire and it would take the patients three hours to reach the hospital.

For people who were too sick to walk were carried on mats with two sticks fixed at each end. Then, four strong men would carry him or her. Two men would go infront and the other behind - the ends of the sticks resting on their shoulders.

Gahima started a home and school for the street children in Gitarama. He moved from street to street talking to the kids. Some of them could identify him. He explained to them the importance of education and the danger of taking drugs.

His dream to improve the lives of the helpless and homeless children in Rwanda succeeded. This achievement has made Gahima a happy man.

"I am now a happy man because I have saved many lives of the street children. I myself lived on the streets; did many bad things and there is nothing good I can remember from such a life,” Gahima recalled.
