Caf boss jets in for CAN U-17 tourney

THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou arrived in the country last night to watch the 9th Caf U-17 Championship. According to the local football federation (Ferwafa), Hayatou jetted in aboard SN Brussels, just hours after attending Monday night’s Fifa Ballon d’or ceremony in Zurich were Lionel Messi successfully retained his World player of the year crown after beating off stiff competition from two Barcelona teammates in Andre Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.

THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Issa Hayatou arrived in the country last night to watch the 9th Caf U-17 Championship.

According to the local football federation (Ferwafa), Hayatou jetted in aboard SN Brussels, just hours after attending Monday night’s Fifa Ballon d’or ceremony in Zurich were Lionel Messi successfully retained his World player of the year crown after beating off stiff competition from two Barcelona teammates in Andre Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.

Hayatou is expected to travel to the Western Province town of Rubavu to watch today’s Group B games.
Congo Brazzaville and Ivory Coast will open their day’s action in a 1pm kick-off match before another contest between defending champions Gambia and Mali.

The 65-year old fronted Rwanda’s bid to host the on-going competition after successfully hosting the 2009 Caf U-20 championship which was won by Ghana.
