Junior Wasps storm World Cup

STADE DE KIGALI - WHAT once seemed a fairy tale is now a reality. Rwandas junior wasps have qualified for the 2011 U-17 Fifa World Cup which will be held in Mexico. The youngsters rewrote history after todays well deserved 1-0 victory over Group A favorites Egypt at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Ferwafa boss John Bosco Kazura (c) joins in on the celebrations after today's 1-0 win over Egypt which not only qualifies Rwanda to the semi-finals of the Caf U-17 championship but also seals a slot to the U-17 Fifa World Cup which will be held in Mexico.

The youngsters rewrote history after yesterdays well deserved 1-0 victory over Group A favorites Egypt at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Central defender Faustin Usengimana scored the all important goal through a well timed header and then put in a solid rearguard effort in the second half to keep the junior Pharaohs at bay.

The victory coupled with Saturdays 2-1 win over Burkina Faso consolidates Rwandas position at the top of the group with six points. todays result also means that Richard Tardys side is the first team to progress into the semi-final of the Caf U-17 Championship.
