SAM Timbe has dismissed rumours linking him with the head coaching job at Primus League side Rayon Sport.

Speculation is rife that the former Atraco coach is favorite to take over at the Blues following the club’s slow start this season.

Rayon, who last won the league in 2004, trail table leaders APR by 11 points.
From nine games played so far, the Blues, who are currently coached by Emmanuel Ruremesha, have amassed 16 points after a run of four wins, four draws and one defeat.

Speculation intensified yesterday after some sources claimed that Timbe who has been out of work since last year when Atraco withdrew from the league citing bankruptcy, is expected to travel to Kigali this month but the tactician was quick to dismiss those rumours.

"It’s nonsense. Everyone is speculating because a deal has not been reached but the truth is that I have not spoken to Rayon regarding the vacant job,” he told Times Sport during a brief phone interview.

"Before you can negotiate with anyone, they must make contact with you. Unfortunately, I have not received any word from Rayon,” he added.

In 2009, Timbe dominated headlines after leading Atraco to a double; Cecafa Club Championship and MTN Peace Cup.
While Atraco were the third Rwandan side to lift the regional title, they went into the history books for being one of the very few sides to win the competition on their debut appearance.

The Ugandan also became the first coach to win the tournament with three different clubs. (Atraco and two Uganda Super league sides in Police and SC Villa).
