Gicumbi FC Secretary General, Antoine Dukuzimana, is optimistic his side can go all the way and collect all three points and retain the top position as they visit Amagaju in a second division league encounter slated for Sunday, February 12, at Nyagisenyi Stadium.
The Gicumbi-based side travel to Nyamagabe sitting second in Group B with 23 points, two points behind their next opponents Amagaju who lead the table with 25.
In an interview with Times Sports, Dukuzimana tasked his players to do everything possible to win Sunday's game for them to leapfrog Amagaju to the top of the table.
"We had a meeting with players on Friday and we agreed on winning our game against Amagaju to claim our top spot back,” Dukuzimana said on Saturday.
"We’re very confident that our men will make it because they won against them (Amagaju) in the first round of the league,” he added.
Gicumbi FC lost their top position on the day 8 of the league after losing their last two league games against Esperance FC (0-1) and Rugende FC (1-2) while Amagaju have played one game less after their last weekend’s match against Heroes was suspended after the two teams failed to agree on the Amagaju’s 70th minute goal that was controversially disallowed.
"We’ve recently made some silly mistakes against small teams but we have asked the coach and the players to have the same commitment and concentration on every game,” Dukuzimana noted.
