Editor,

Records from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) which put the figures of registered voters in the forthcoming local leaders’ elections, at 5,417,886  is a sign of democracy and the faith that the people have in the country.

The large numbers indicate that many Rwandans are now willing and ready to participate in the electoral process and by doing this; they will be able to cause change and elect dynamic leaders who are ready to deliver services. It’s a sign that the country has transformed and politically matured.

It’s also a sign that Rwandans are ready to hold their leaders accountable and those who cannot measure up will be voted out.

The news that the number of voters in the forthcoming elections has increased by about 300,000 since the August 2010 Presidential elections speaks volumes about the good job done by the EC.

Well done EC and all Rwandans are behind you.
