GICUMBI - 14 children, five girls and nine boys, aged between 3 months and 8 years, were on Wednesday received by Kageyo SOS Children’s Village, in Gicumbi District.
The vulnerable children were handed over for care by Good Samaritans and hail from several parts of the country.
Speaking to The New Times yesterday, the Children Village Director, Callixte Rwabuhungu, said the majority of the children were abandoned by their parents while others are HIV/AIDS orphans.
"A three-month old baby girl was found abandoned in the bush at Ruvune Sector of Gicumbi District”, said Rwabuhungu.
He added that the other older children were suffering from malnutrition. He revealed that the village is home to 150 children, whose source of care is drawn from SOS International and income generating activities.
