THE national U-17 coach Richard Tardy has urged fans to rally behind their team in the Caf U-17 Africa Nations Cup which gets underway this Saturday at Amahoro stadium. Tardy was very specific insisting that a good start for the Junior Wasps is crucial to their chances of reaching the last four.

Drawn in Group A alongside Egypt, Senegal and Burkina Faso, Tardy’s youngsters start their quest this Saturday against Burkina Faso.

They then play Egypt on January 11 before winding up their campaign against Senegal on January 14.
Since the event doubles as a qualifier for the U-17 Fifa World Cup in Mexico later this year, Rwanda needs to reach the last four to cement their slot.

Group B pits defending champions Gambia against Ivory Coast, Mali and Congo Brazzaville.
While the newly refurbished Rubavu Stadium will host Group B games, Group A action will be jointly held at Amahoro and Regional stadium.

Tardy also said that he was taking it one game at a time.
"It’s true that we are up against very good sides in Senegal and Egypt but we cannot afford to think about them now. For now, we are entirely focusing on Burkina Faso,” he added.

Some of the players Tardy is counting on to make things happen is the evergreen skipper Emery Bayisenga, Bonfils Kabanda and Andrew Butera among others.
