THE first ever swimming league is on the cards according to the president of the local swimming federation.
Samuel Kinimba Ufitimana yesterday confirmed that it will start in March with a focus of identifying and developing young talents.
"In the past, we have been having one-off tournaments but such competitions don’t really benefit young athletes so we hope that a running league will be of great value in terms of developing the sport,” the official noted.
Eight clubs have confirmed participation and they include Cool waters (Sports view), Town swimming club (Kanombe), Dolphins (La Pallise Nyandungu), Cercle Sportif, Zenith (Karongi), Riviera, Groupe Butare and the National University of Rwanda (UNR).
