This weekend, Rwanda’s under-17 team will compete with seven other teams from across Africa in the elite youth competition. One obvious advantage that the Rwandan team has, is that the tournament is being hosted at home.

Despite the fact that they will be competing with Africa’s top teams, I believe that our team can step up to the plate and prove that Rwanda, too, is a "footballing” nation.

The team will, however, use extra support from the fans. Like they say in football, the twelfth man – fans’ support - plays a key role in enhancing the teams’ performance.

That said, let us turnout in large numbers at the soccer venues and boost our young boys.
