Rwandans welcomed the New Year with parties and fireworks.

Celebrations took place in different parts of the country, to usher in the New Year.

One of the major end of year parties  was the Happy People New Year’s Eve Party, on December 31, from 10p.m –10a.m at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minaffet) headquarters, Kimihurura.

Revellers gathered in the compound of Minaffet and cheered all the way into 2011, as they watched a spectacular display of fireworks.

Present at the event were government high-ranking officials and dignitaries, notably, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Louise Mushikiwabo and her husband, as well as Gustave Karara, an official in charge of the Rwandan Diaspora Global Network, among others.

Drawing from their rich repertoire, international renowned DJs, Stylez of Kenya and South Africa’s Africano, treated the massive crowd to a terrific non-stop music.

Happy People New Year’s Eve Party was organised by Happy People in partnership with the Rwandan Diaspora. The fireworks were provided by Show Time Event.
