Egypt, Burkina Faso arrive today

Rwanda’s opponents in Group A Egypt and Burkina Faso arrive in Kigali today ahead of the African U-17 youth championship, which gets underway this weekend in Kigali.

The local organizing committee (COCAN) Secretary General Jules Kalisa said yesterday that Egypt will arrive at midday while Burkina Faso will touch down at Kigali international airport later in the afternoon.

According to Kalisa, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Senegal will all be residing at La Palisse hotel while the Junior Wasps have joined already joined camp at Belvedere Hotel in Kigali.
In a related development, defending champion Gambia beat Egypt in their first test match in Cairo over the weekend ahead of their title defense trip to Kigali.

The Gambian team beat their Egyptian counterparts 5-3 in what was their maiden warm-up match since their arrival in the North African country on December 19.

The two-time African champions, who have been paired in the same pool as Ivory Coast, Mali and Congo, will open their title defense against unfamiliar opponents Congo on January 9, before meeting Mali on January 12 and Ivory Coast on January 15.
