POLICE are looking to spoil APR’s New Year celebrations when the two sides come face to face this afternoon at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.

Like Etincelles and Rayon, Police have lost one game this season.

The side suffered a 1-0 defeat in their last game against SC Kiyovu to drop to fifth place on the league charts with 11 points.

However, assistant coach Abdul Mbarushimana is convinced that the team can bounce back with a win this afternoon.

"We have drawn so many times (five) this season and it is high time we started converting those draws into victories,” he said.

"Everyone in the team is pumped up for tomorrow (today)’s game and we are confident we can shock APR,” he added.

The military side has won its opening eight games to open up an eight-point gap with nearest challengers Kiyovu.
With 24 points in the bag, the champions have all the motivation and confidence they need going into today’s game but former APR midfielder and now assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana has warned the side against complacency.

"Sometimes when teams go on a winning streak, they take things for granted so it is important that we keep our focus and keep playing to our strengths because the league is not yet won,” he said before confirming that Ivorian midfielder Rogba Sella would miss the tie.

Sella joins Abbas Rassou in the treatment room but Emmanuel Sebanani a.k.a Crespo and Albert Ngabo are available for selection after recovering from ankle and knee injuries respectively.

On Sunday, five games are on cards. Mukura host SC Kiyovu, Rayon Sports play away to Amagaju in Nyamagabe, AS Kigali host Etincelles, Musanze travel to Muhanga while new league boys La Jeunesse host Marines at Kicukiro turf.
