Rubavu stadium gets CAF nod

RUBAVU stadium has been declared fit to host Group B matches of the Caf U-17 Championship scheduled for January 8-22, 2011 according to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF). CAF Executive Committee member Célestin Musabyimana visited and declared the stadium fit to host the continental show piece.

Rubavu stadium ready to host Group B matches of the 2011 U-17 Africa Nations tournament.

RUBAVU stadium has been declared fit to host Group B matches of the Caf U-17 Championship scheduled for January 8-22, 2011 according to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).

CAF Executive Committee member Célestin Musabyimana visited and declared the stadium fit to host the continental show piece.

"Rubavu Stadium is ready to host the tournament. Everything is in place and we (CAF) hope Rwandans will show up in big numbers at all the three venues,” Musabyimana, who was in the company of Sports Minister Joseph Habineza, said.

Besides Rubavu stadium, the other venues for the two-week event include Amahoro stadium and Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.The top four will qualify for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled to run from June 18-July 10 in Mexico.

Meanwhile, Musabyimana is re-contesting for the CAF executive committee seat in next year’s elections which will be held in Khartoum, Sudan in February.

He is in the race with Cecafa boss Leodegar Tenga.
