NYAGATARE-A thirty-year-old man was left dead while three others were seriously injured when a wild buffalo from Akagera National Park attacked them in Nyagatare District yesterday afternoon.

According to Police, the deceased, Celestin Kagabo, was attacked by the buffalo while working in his banana plantation.

"He was working in his banana plantation when a mad buffalo attacked and killed him in Mimuli Sector. It later crossed to Katabagemu Sector and injured three people,” a police official said.

In an interview, Ignatius Uwishatse, Katabagemu sector Executive Secretary, said that the injured residents were immediately rushed to Nyagatare Hospital in critical condition.

A military official who spoke to The New Times said that the buffalo was later shot dead to prevent it from attacking more residents.

"We have successfully shot it dead. We were very worried it could kill more people,” he said.
