I wish to commend the leadership of Kamonyi District for the exemplary work in the construction of classrooms for next year’s intake under the Nine-Year Basic Education Programme (9-YBE).

The Government’s initiative to introduce the 9-YBE programme, which offers six years of primary education and three years of secondary education to all Rwandan children free of charge, has registered great achievements.

The enrollment of the school going children has gone up and the main challenge has been the shortage of classrooms.

It’s, therefore a great job being done by Kamonyi and Kicukiro districts in addressing this pressing concern. What are other districts doing?

We cannot afford to have our kids study under trees, anymore.
