FIFA has appointed an eight-man committee to organise elections in Kenyan football in April 2011.

Among those named on the committee are former internationals Joe Masiga and Nahashon "Lule” Oluoch.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Nairobi by Leodegar Tenga, who heads the region’s football body Cecafa.

"The overall mandate of Independent Electoral Board is to deliver free and fair elections,” said Tenga, who is also the Tanzanian FA Chairman.

Joe Okwach, a Kenyan lawyer, will head the Independent Electoral Board (IEB).

Kenyan football has been embroiled in a leadership tussle for several years, pitting two factions, the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) and Football Kenya Limited (FKL), against each other.

The FKL is currently recognised by Fifa as the legitimate managers of football in the country.

Meanwhile the KFF insists FKL is a private company and should not be in charge of Kenyan football.
Fifa now says the KFL must convert to an association after the elections.

"This is a directive from Fifa and does not only affect Kenya,” Tenga said during Thursday’s press conference.
"It [comes] as a result of complaints from the African body Caf which is also against a private company running football,’’ he stated.

Tenga, a former international footballer for Tanzania and a member of Fifa’s Associations Committee, was appointed by football’s world governing body to monitor and follow up the process leading up to the elections.

He was accompanied at the conference by another Fifa representative Ashford Mamelodi from Botswana.
