Editor,

A new partnership with RARDA, will see WFP provide 300 heads of cattle.  The deal, worth $ 415,000 is huge step as the government prepares to transform the country in line with vision 2020. The beneficiaries’ mood is quite high and the year, 2011 will obviously be a year of positive change.
I live in Byumba, Gicumbi District and poverty is the most challenging obstacle the residents have.

But the government’s effort to reduce poverty, curb malnutrition and hunger is appreciated and needs collective support.

As government tries to put up several initiatives like Bye Bye Nyakatsi programme aimed at constructing homes for disadvantaged members of our society, any support brought on board from friends of Rwanda is welcome.

The One Cow Per Poor Households programme, a government initiative to reduce poverty  in the country has largely succeeded and the lives of poor people have improved.

These were a few cases where some beneficiaries of the One Cow Per Poor Households programme sold their cows cheaply and leaders must monitor, so this does not happen a gain.
