Junior wasps 2-3 Kenya

THE junior wasps have their goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora to blame for yesterday’s 3-2 defeat against Kenya; the finale of the Cecafa tri-nations (mini- U-17 Cecafa tournament).
While Nzarora could do little about Kenya’s first goal by Martin Lemayian, the shot stopper was at fault for the second and third goals.

First, Aspire midfielder Joseph Wanyonyi looped him when well out of position and with 19 minutes to go, John Nairuka scored the third after beating junior wasps skipper Emery Bayisenge and then placing the ball in the left corner.

Michel Rusheshangoga and Solomon Nirisake scored Rwanda’s goals but the abject performance means that Richard Tardy has a lot to think about over the festive season.

Going by his post match remarks, the Frenchman was clearly not happy with the team’s performance.
He said, "We did not defend well today and we were punished. We have to be more clinical when on pitch.”

Kenya were crowned champions after amassing four points from two games; a win and a draw. Rwanda finished second with three points while Tanzania’s Serengeti Boys came last with a solitary point.

The junior wasps were using the event as a build up to January’s Caf U-17 championship. The event slated to run from 8-22, will attract eight teams pooled in two groups.
The venues for the event include Amahoro, regional and Umuganda stadia.
