Rwanda is set to line up a formidable male and female athletics team ahead of the 36th IAAF World Cross Country Championship scheduled for March 30 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The national athletics federation(RAC) Secretary General Appolinaire Munyangoga told Times Sport that the two teams will be composed of seven male athletics and five athletics respectively.
‘We want a strong team which will put up a better performance than last year’s,’ Munyangoga said.
The Scotland bound squad will be selected after this month’s national cross country championship that will be staged in Kigali.
With Dieudonne Disi and Angelline Nyiransabimana already listed on the team, ten slots will be up for grabs during the national event. The national athletics head coach Adolpe Rukenkanya said that the duo has its slot intact.
‘They are in the team regardless of whether they are present for the national cross country championship or not,’ Rukenkanya said.
