As a way of celebrating its first year upon entry in Rwandan telecommunication market, Tigo Rwanda has launched a number of promotions to reward its customers.
According to statistics from Rwanda Utilities and Regulatory Agency (RURA), Tigo now has over 600,000 mobile subscribers on their network.
The operator joined the Rwandan market in December last year, as the third Telecom, after MTN and Rwandatel.
The operator is currently offering a promotion where subscribers can speak for 500 minutes over a period of two days for Rwf500. And, by purchasing airtime worth Rwf1,000, a subscriber can talk for 1,000 minutes over a period of five days.
This promotion which runs until December the 31 is the first of its kind, according to Tigo officials.
Another incentive, according to the telecom, is the reduction of the Tigo SIM card from Rwf500 to Rwf350.
"The SIM card comes with Rwf300 worth of airtime…and this reduction is in line with our commitment to support government’s vision of creating a knowledge based economy,” said Tigo Marketing Manager, Nina Ndabaneze.
She added: "Government targets at least 5 million subscribers by 2012. Tigo Rwanda is in line with these aspirations, and we are consistently trying to reduce the barriers to the entry level of access to communication by offering affordable services and products.”
