The Ministry of Finance, on Friday last week, termed as ‘misinformation’ reports published in local media outlets indicating that the Dutch government had decided to completely cut-off development aid for Rwanda.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Kampeta Sayinzoga, said that there had not been such decision.

 "The recent discussion in the Dutch parliament was regarding planned General Budget Support, but Rwanda has never received this particularly type of support from Netherlands.” Sayinzoga said in a statement,

"The Dutch Parliament approved support to the justice sector and there has been no other change in the development aid we are currently receiving through Sector Budget Support and Project Support,” she added.

On behalf of the Government, Sayinzoga appreciated the ongoing cooperation as well as active participation in policy dialogue with the Netherlands and other development partners.

Rwanda has had a productive development partnership with the Netherlands since 2001.

The Netherlands has provided a total $190 million for the period 2008-2011, in the areas of justice and good governance which includes support to decentralization, private sector development, education, and energy sector.
