Ombudsman Tito Rutaremara

Editor,

I read in The New Times  on Saturday that the Ombudsman’s Office,  launched a service that will enable public officials to declare their wealth online. This is a wise initiative because many public servants had in the past complained of insufficient time to collect wealth declaration forms, and to meet the June, 30 deadline.

With the new initiative, I hope we shall see many government employees declaring their wealth on time, as a  way of accounting to the electorate.

I totally agree with Ombudsman that the move will strengthen efficiency and effectiveness of the declaration of wealth by public officials and reduce bureaucracy.
The use of the internet will obviously help speed up the process and enable some leaders who may be away on foreign missions to also meet the required deadline.
