The long awaited Christmas Jungle Party at Serena Kivu took place, on Saturday night, with thousands of party goers all converging in Gisenyi.

The fifth edition of the Jungle Party attracted both local and regional artistes, who entertained the expectant crowds.

Local artists included Tom Close and Kitoko, while from the region there were Lillian Mbabazi of the Blu3 trio, obsession, Rabadaba, and Zambia’s two brothers, General Ozzy and Roberto.

Speaking to The New Times, McDavis Genza, the CEO of Showtime Events, that organised the Jungle Party, said that the party gave people a break from the monotony of the work they have been doing throughout the year.
He added: "…we want to promote Rwandan artists, as well as boost Gisenyi as tourist destination.”

However, there were mixed reactions about the concert. As some described the artists as less entertaining compared to the previous editions.

While revealers had a good time and generally happy with the organisation, there were complaints that the party started at midnight and not 9pm as advertised.

Nonetheless, people were kept on their toes throughout the show, with loud screams whenever their favourite singer went on stage. The crowds’ favourites were, Kitoko, Rabadaba and General Ozzy.
