SC KIYOVU moved into third place on the Primus National Football League table after yesterday’s 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Rayon Sport at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.

Skipper Dady Birori scored the first and set up Jack Tuyisenge for a second as the green baggies handed the Blues their first defeat of the season in the presence of new owner Albert Rudatsimburwa.

Birori opened the scoring with a well timed header from a Jean Shyaka corner on the 57th minute. Rayon tried to push for an equalizer but eight minutes from time, Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side sealed the tie when Birori left center back Aimable Rucogoza on the ground before neatly setting up Tuyisenge.

Rayon’s Abedi Mulenda wasted two clear cut chances thanks to SC Kiyovu goalie Juma Mpongo who was outstanding throughout the game.

Defeat means that Rayon drop to fifth place.
In Rubavu, Orange Confederation Cup bound Etincelles were held to a goalless draw by Police.

Both sides could not find the back of the net despite having numerous attempts on goal. On Saturday, eleven-time league champions APR extended their winning streak to six after hammering Muhanga 4-0.

Jean Baptist Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi scored a brace while Bebeto Lwamba and Malawi international Victor Nyirenda also got their names on the score sheet to maintain APR’s lead at the summit of the table with 18 points.

Newly promoted side La Jeunesse stunned AS Kigali 1-0 at Kicukiro turf while home advantage could not save Mukura from a 1-0 defeat against Musanze. It was their fifth defeat of the season.

In Rubavu, Marine succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Amagaju to stay in the bottom three.
