League champions APR extended their unbeaten start to the new season to six wins out of six after hammering new boys Muhanga 4-0 in the Primus National Football league match played on Saturday in Muhanga, Southern Province.

Jean Baptista Mugiraneza scored a brace while Malawi international Victor Nyirenda and DR Congo import Bebeto Lwamba added one a piece as the military side maintained their hold at the summit of table standings with a maximum 18 points.

Elsewhere, another newly promoted side La Jeunesse surprised AS Kigali to a 1-0 victory at Kicukiro ground, while Mukura lost their fifth game of the season, going don 1-0 to visiting Musanze in Huye.

In Rubavu, Marine could not overcome visitors Amagaju as they succumbed to a 1-2 loss at home leaving them in the relegation zone with three points.

Meanwhile, action continues this afternoon with the game of the weekend when old enemies SC Kiyovu and Rayon Sports go face to face at Nyamirambo stadium.

While Rayon coach Emmanuel Ruremesha and his players will be looking for a win to give Rayon’s new owner, Albert Rudatsimburwa something to cheer about as he plans to turn around the club’s fortunes, Jean Marie Ntagwabira, the Kiyovu coach, who doesn’t hide his dislike for Rayon, will be having other ideas.

APR lead the PNFL standings with 18 points with Etincelles, who face Police this afternoon in second place with 11 points. Muhanga is bottom on the table without a point after six rounds of matches.
