THE Junior Wasps begin their U-17 tri-nations campaign this afternoon with a clash against Tanzania’s Serengeti Boys at Amahoro stadium.

The tournament is aimed at fine-tuning Richard Tardy’s boys’ ahead of January’s Caf U-17 Championship.
The Serengeti Boys jetted in yesterday night aboard a RwandAir plane and are camped at La Palissee Hotel, Nyandungu.

Kenya is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, two days before their game with Rwanda.

Tardy has a fully fit side at his disposal as he continues to find the best combination in the striking line ahead of January’s continental showpiece which will be staged in Rwanda.

Speaking ahead of the mini-tournament, the Frenchman said, "The team has been improving with every game and I know the boys will still learn from this tournament.”

Tanzania’s interim coach Jamhuri Kihwelu who is standing in for Brazil’s Rodrigo Stockler also expects a positive display from his boys.

The junior wasps are beaming with confidence after what was a productive spell in Tunisia. While in Tunis, the team won four games, drew two and lost one.

For the January championship, Rwanda is drawn alongside Burkina Faso, Senegal and Egypt in Group A while Group B pits reigning champions Gambia against Congo Brazzaville, Ivory Coast and Mali.

The top four teams will qualify for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup scheduled to run from June 18-July 10 in Mexico.

Junior Wasps squad: Marcel Nzarora, Michelle Rusheshangoga, Emery Bayisenge, Solomon Nyirisikiriye, Celestin Ndayishimiye, Charles Tibingana, Eric Nsabimana, Shadad Nsengayire, Justin Micho and Andrew Butera.
