Rwamagana - 30 Rwanda National Police (RNP) officers, graduated as internal auditors after a one-month intensive training in customer care, and internal auditing.
The training programme which ended, yesterday, was conducted at Gishari Police Training school in Rwamagana district.
According to the Deputy Commissioner General of Police (DCGP), Stanley Nsabimana, the course left the trainees with various skills vital for a Police Inspector.
"I am convinced that you will improve the performance of the police, and spearhead the country’s good governance,” he said.
The US Ambassador to Rwanda, Stuart Symington, one of the guests at the colourful ceremony, said that the 30 officers, can transform the 30 districts of the country.
He noted that a single person may be enough, to change a country, or the world.
He lauded the work of RNP officers serving on international peace keeping missions.
"Yes, trainings are good, only if trainees put in practice what they train in. You have to involve the people and work as the nervous system of justice. RNP’s good work has surpassed boundaries,” he said.
AIP Philippe Niyongira, one of the trainees, in his speech on behalf of others, said that they are going to use the skills to improve their performance.
"We have attained vital skills in customer care. We shall promote ethical conduct and professionalism in our force,” he said.
The 4-week training was sponsored by the US through United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
