WESTERN PROVINCE NYAMASHEKE — 30 former soldier in Rwanda Defense Forces have been training in formation of business cooperatives and drafting technical proposals.

The ten-day training was held at Nyabitekeri primary school in Nyabitekeri sector and ended early this week. Trainees were drawn from Nyabitekeri and Cyato sectors.

Francis Gaforomo, an official from Rwandan Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RDRC) urged the trainees to always form up cooperatives and projects with long term plans.

"In as far as you are concerned as Rwandans who fought for the liberation Rwanda, I encourage you to set up business cooperatives and projects with long term plans so as to make a step out of poverty,” said Gaforomo.

The trainees were undertook courses of the rules and regulations that govern business cooperatives and projects in the country and importance of cooperatives and projects.

The Vice mayor in charge of economic affairs at Nyamasheke district said Oscar Nzeyimana advised participants to always be job creators rather than being job seekers.

Participants were asked to always take part in all government programmes and to maintain security in the area by cooperating with the security authorities in the area.

One of the trainees, Vincent Karangwa told The New Times that he was happy of gone through the  training; "Now I have the knowledge of forming up any business cooperative and project and to efficiently and effectively run them.”

The workshop was organized by Rwandan Demobilization and Reintegration Commission in conjunction with Nyamasheke district management.
