THIS year’s national karate federation calendar will climax this Sunday with a one-day championship at Lycee de Kigali according to the body’s technical director Guy Didier Rurangayire.
The competition, open to both men and women will have the latter competing in the kata category and the men vying for honors in both Kata and Kumite categories.
Unlike last year, Rurangayire anticipates a very competitive tournament this time round.
"Athletes have been training very hard for this competition so I expect a thrilling event,” Rurangayire noted.
Some of the clubs expected to field athletes include Hantei, Ippon, Aigle, Samouari, Mamarou, Kaisho, Shisei, Kensei, Fayt, Tiger, Eagle and the National University of Rwanda (UNR) among others.
Last year Eagle won the men’s category while UNR dominated in the ladies category.
