Editor,
It is very important that Rwandans living in the Diaspora keep telling the truth and portray the true picture on the ground in our country. It has become a habit for the Western media to mislead the world about the dynamics in Rwanda, sometimes relying on false information provided by certain Rwandan exiles.
Most of these people who portray our country negatively left Rwanda years ago, after committing various crimes. They always put themselves in a victim’s position to win sympathy from Western countries.
Though there is a lot more to be done by our leaders, what has been achieved in the last sixteen years is quite commendable and cannot be sneered at.
Look at the tourism sector for instance. It has been developed beyond the Gorillas product. When neighboring countries were having a thriving tourism industry in the 1990s, our country was still recovering from the Genocide, but today, things have changed. Talk about the quality of our coffee, the development of our ICT- just to mention but a few.
So, it’s the duty of Rwandans living in the Diaspora to always challenge the inaccurate and negative information about Rwanda.
