Top five finalists selected at ‘Deejay Battle Competition’

Top five contestants were on Saturday, August 20 selected at semi-finals to head on to DJ Battle competition's grand finale.

Last weekend, 10 contestants among 20 were selected for the semi-finals and now only five contestants will compete at a grand finale on Saturday, August 27.

The jury made up of DJ Pius, DJ Sharif and DJ Khadir decided who went for the final stage of the competition.

The 5 contestants who were selected for the next stage are DJs Selekta Dany, Kiss, Selekta Gomez, Beast and Trapboy.

DJ Ira and Roxy were selected in the women’s category. Three Deejays Mico, Joe and Araphat were given probation and only one with the highest votes will join the top five for the grand finale. Online voting is undergoing and will determine who will join the final contestants on the night of the finale.

A four-man panel of judges made up of Nigeria’s DJ Neptune, who recently performed in Kigali in June, South African DJ Khathu, Uganda’s DJ Khadir and Rwanda’s DJ Sharif, the founder of local DJ School ‘Scratch Music Academy’ will be present to select the winner at the finale.

The overall winner will walk away with a brand-new Mercedes Benz car worth Rwf25 million as the top prize for the contest.

Besides the top prize, organizers will also recognise the best upcoming DJ with a cash prize of Rwf2 million while the best female DJ will be awarded equipment worth Rwf5 million.

The contest is being organised by M&K with a goal to promote DJs and create public awareness of the talent and quality music in Rwanda, as well as provide business opportunities, networking, and leisure activities through competitions.
