The National U-17 coach Richard Tardy has commended the progress of the team ahead of next year’s U-17 African Championship that will held in Kigali.
The junior wasps had a three week camp in Tunisia where they played six matches, winning three, drawing two and losing one.
Tardy was particularly impressed by defenders Bonfils Kabanda, Egide Kabanza and striker Andrew Butera.
"They were magnificent during the matches in Tunisia and they are sure starters if they continue the good form.”Tardy said
The team is currently in residential training ahead of friendly matches against Kenya and Tanzania.
The U-17 Coach also confirmed that he will select his 23 man squad on December 29th.
The junior wasps are drawn in Group A alongside Senegal, Egypt and Burkina Faso and will open their 2011 U-17 Africa Youth Championship campaign against the latter.
Group B pits reigning champions Gambia against Ivory Coast, Mali and Congo Brazzaville.
The tournament which runs from January 8-22 will be jointly held in Kigali and Rubavu. The top four will qualify for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico.
