JEROME Mugabo’s new film "Gibraltar’ VIP premiere is today.
The screening will be held at Sports View in Remera, starting at 6pm and the entrance fee is Rwf10,000.
Speaking to The New Times, Mugabo said the public will have its turn on Sunday, at Igicumbi cy’umuco at Amahoro Stadium; entrance fee will be Rwf1000 and Rwf5000 (VIP).

The 62 minute feature film talks about illegal emigration and why Africans flee to Europe. 

In the movie, a young man takes a decision to go to Europe illegally, but as fate dictates, his journey to ‘paradise’ ends tragically as he dies in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar, a self-governing British colony, is a small, narrow peninsula, located at the southern edge of Spain. It overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar and the Northern coastal areas of Africa.

The actor who has never been to Europe, urged his fellow Africans to be proud of their continent.

"You can find better life in your countries without necessarily going to overseas,” Mugabo said. "Very many Africans have died in waters while trying to cross to Europe.”

The 27-year-old actor has already released three films: ‘Life Guard”, ‘His Legend’, a biography of late Shyaka Clever and ‘Gibraltar.”

Mugabo called upon the Government and the private sector to support filmmakers to improve the country’s film industry. 

Apart from acting, Mugabo is a technician on Radio 10.
