I was greatly inspired after reading an article in The Newtimes yesterday, that 94 police officers will soon lose their jobs over corruption-related crimes. By firing their own, police has showed unquestionable commitment to deal with the corruption issue once and for all.

The public expects police to keep law and order. It, therefore, turns out to be a big irony if those charged to enforce law in our society become the same people who violate it.

There have been reports of alleged corruption involving some police officers from traffic department but they were ignored because there was no tangible proof.

However, I wish to commend our National police leadership for this bold stand it has taken. It sends a strong signal to other members of society that whoever is found on the wrong side of the law will be punished severely.

We must all stand up and say no to all forms of corruption. We should always work hand in hand with police to eliminate this vice by acting as whistle blowers.
