Office of ombudsman doing a great job

Editor, Let me express my sincere appreciation to the Office of Ombudsman and his team for their concerted efforts aimed at fighting corruption in our beloved nation. There is no doubt that corruption , if condoned, can bring down countries and we have examples that are very extreme like the genocidal regimes of Habyarimana or ancient Roman empire that led to its total destruction.

War against corruption on course: Ombudsman, Tito Rutaremara (File Photo)

Editor,

Let me express my sincere appreciation to the Office of Ombudsman and his team for their concerted efforts aimed at fighting corruption in our beloved nation. There is no doubt that corruption , if condoned, can bring down countries and we have examples that are very extreme like the genocidal regimes of Habyarimana or ancient Roman empire that led to its total destruction.

I was particularly happy when the Ombudsman’s report rated our police as the least corrupt among our institutions, which institutions also have a lower rating. An incorruptible police is of essence when it comes to combating corruption and it gives us a lot of hope when our police are rated to be of high moral standing.

The other reason why I am proud, to be Rwandan is that the country may have some few corrupt individuals within certain institutions but does not have institutional corruption. Institutionalized corruption runs vertically and horizontally between levels within the institution without any fear of reprisal since all are embezzling together.

Let us together help the police and the Ombudsman’s office to fight any traces of corruption in our country.
