KARONGI - The Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA), has challenged local leaders to actively and effectively involve all stakeholders, especially the private sector, in meeting the development goals

The leaders have also been advised to develop high-quality Joint Action Development Forums (JADF), both at the district and sector levels in order to accelerate the economic development of the country.

Francis Habitegeko, the coordinator of JADF strengthening programme at RALGA, made the remarks while speaking to vice mayors in charge of economic affairs from across the country, who were attending a meeting in Karongi District.
He added that stakeholders at all levels of development must be involved in decision making.

"You should as well utilise the private sector as one
of the most important development partners,” Habitegeko said.

He challenged them to be as transparent as possible if a firm foundation of sustainable economic development is to be established.

Oscar Nzeyimana, the vice president of the Forum of vice Mayors in charge of economic affairs, noted that capacity building can be possible by conducting regular self evaluation and assessment.

"Working to the best of our ability and establishing a legal frame work to evaluate activities and individuals plays a vital role is establishing sustainable economic development,” Nzeyimana said.
