GICUMBI - The Minister of Gender and Family promotion, Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya, yesterday, urged secondary school head teachers in Gicumbi District to maintain clean environments in schools.

She made the call during a tour to evaluate the second phase of the Nine Year Basic Education Programme classroom construction in the district.

With the classrooms set to be inaugurated by December 28, the Minister urged those responsible to work harder so as to meet the deadline.

"You should accelerate the roofing, fixing of doors and windows,” Mujawamariya told district and head teachers at the various schools that she toured.

She also inspected waste collection pits at various schools, advising authorities to construct collection pits close to the schools because they will serve as biogas generating sites in the near future.

Mujawamariya together with Mayor Bonane Nyangezi inspected classroom construction in Miyove, Nyankenke, Manyagiro and Cyumba sectors.
