Editor,
For the Rwandan Diaspora in Europe, all the continent’s icy roads were leading to Brussels this week where we met President Paul Kagame.
From Finland and Sweden in the north, to Italy and Spain in the south, Rwandans defied sub-zero temperatures and icy roads to travel to the Belgian capital by any means to meet President Kagame.
We were happy to meet President Kagame, on Saturday evening after four years since his last visit to Belgium.
We shared a lot of constructive stories about our country and everybody is convinced that Rwanda is on the right track.
Starting our journeys on Friday to beat the treacherous weather conditions, some members in Diaspora drove to Brussels in groups while others travelled by coach and train services from all corners of Europe.
We remember in a similar meeting in London, in October 2006, President Kagame told Rwandans that Rwanda is not about geography but Rwandans and their values, wherever they are. We have been guided by President’s advice since.
