DESPITE losing against the region’s big guns, the U-15 boys’ cricket team manager Eddie Balaba insists that there were valuable lessons learnt from the ICC East Africa U-15 championship which climaxed on Sunday.

Rwanda beat debutants Seychelles before succumbing to back to back defeats against Kenya, Tanzania and hosts Uganda.

But Balaba maintains that the performance was commendable considering the nature of the opposition.

"The boys tried their best and we commend their efforts because they were playing against much more experienced sides,” the official explained.

Kenya, the highest ranked country in the region beat Rwanda by 7 wickets; Uganda secured a four-wicket win while Tanzania registered a narrow two-wicket victory.

Rwanda’s best performer was Londres Rurangwa after picking seven wickets to finish 4th on the bowling charts.
