Dutchman expects more from Bagoole and Bwalya

APR Coach Ernie Brandts has challenged new recruits Johnson Bagoole and Joseph Bwalya to work on their fitness ahead of what is expected to be a demanding season with the Primus National Football league, MTN Peace Cup, Orange Champions League and Cecafa Kagame Cup all in the mix.

The pair put in a lukewarm performance during Saturday’s friendly against Uganda Super league defending champions Bunamwaya.

Bagoole and Bwalya joined the military side in the off-season and are yet to play a competitive game for the club partly because they are short on fitness.

Brandts, who replaced Erik Paske at the end of last season has told Times Sport that the pair is going to be given special training sessions to help improve on their fitness.

"They need to step up their performance because we are approaching a very crucial period where we need everyone to be fully fit,” the Dutchman said.

Former Amavubi and APR midfielder Olivier Karekezi stole the show on Saturday.
The 27-year-old who plays for Swedish second division side Osters is currently training with the club and there have been rumours that he could return to the army side, who are gunning for a 12th league title.

Edward Ssali put the visitors ahead on the 74th minute but Jimmy Mulisa equalised for APR on the 90th minute. Like Karekezi, Mulisa, who plies his trade in Kazakhstan, is also training with the army side.
