SOUTHERN PROVINCE

nyanza — Residents of Nyanza have been urged to eat good diet to avoid diseases due to poor feeding.

Addressing about 200 residents recently, Emmanuel Shamaragwe, a medical official attached to Busoro Hospital, noted that there many preventable diseases which are caused by poor feeding.

"Poor nutrition can lead to death and affect the whole family. We have got cases of families producing children under poor health conditions,” said Shamaragwe.

The meeting was part of the sensitization campaign to create awareness among residents about the effects of poor feeding including diseases like kwashiorkor. Residents were also sensitised on tuberculosis.

Shamaragwe said more sessions would be extended to families to address issues of eating balanced diet, saying good feeding was the core of health.

He encouraged families with food shortages to work closely with residents with abundant food stocks.
