FUS Rabat became the second Moroccan team to win the Orange African Confederation Cup after a 3-2 final second-leg win over Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien.

The Tunisians were favourites after a goalless draw in the first leg in Rabat but Abdelfatteh Boukhriss gave FUS an early lead in the return leg.

Hamdi Rouid levelled and Kamel Zaiem’s penalty after half-time looked to have put the home side in control.
But Mohamed Zouidi levelled on 74 minutes and won it in the 89th minute.

Boukhriss and Zouidi were unlikely match-winners as they had not previously scored for the club.

Their goals silenced a capacity crowd of 30,000, as the hosts lost at home for the first time in the competition after 23 victories and a draw.

The teams had previously met in the group stage with Sfaxien easing to a 3-0 win, and the result rounded off a miserable year for Tunisian teams in African competition. Tunis-based Esperance were humiliated 6-1 on aggregate by Congolese side TP Mazembe in the Champions League final.

Mazembe will now meet FUS in the African Super Cup match in January.
