AMAVUBI will play hosts Tanzania in the last eight of this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. Ivory Coast’s compelling 3-0 win over Sudan took the Elephants top of Group B with six points and also meant that they successfully avoided a clash with the Taifa Stars who will be hard to break down infront of their home fans.
The Wednesday clash will be yet another huge test for Sellas Tetteh’s wasps who have not tasted defeat in the competition.
It will also be the third time the teams have met this year. Back in May, Amavubi edged Taifa Stars 1-0 to qualify for the 2011 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
The last quarter-final tie pits defending champions Uganda against Zanzibar; one of two best qualified sides.
Tomorrow, Group A leaders Zambia will open the quarter-final contest against Ethiopia before what is expected to be another mouth watering clash between Ivory Coast and Malawi.
