KENYA’s Harambee Stars have threatened not to play their final Group C fixture against arch-rivals Uganda unless they are paid allowances amounting to about Rwf 8.8m.

Coach Jacob Ghost Mulee revealed in yesterday’s press conference that the players had boycotted the morning training session.

"It is a bad day for Kenyan football. It is unfortunate that something like this can happen in a tournament of this magnitude,” the coach repulsively said.

It is said that Kenya Football Limited (KFL) had promised to dish out the allowances before Thursday’s 2-1 defeat against Ethiopia but failed to deliver.

Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye has warned the Kenyan team not to use the issue of allowances as a scapegoat.

"This is a big tournament and we cannot afford to have it ruined by allowances. Some of the other teams have not been given their allowances but are playing,” the official said.
