RWANDA’s U-19 girls’ cricket side will feel hard-done after losing their opening ICC/ East Africa U-19 girls’ tournament against hosts Tanzania at Dar es Salaam’s Annadil Burhani ground.
Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 67 runs all out in 17 overs. In response, Rwanda fell two runs short in the allotted 30 overs.
Veronica Iriho top scored for the visitors with 23 runs while Tanzania’s Sophia Hemed chipped in 21 runs. Jackie Nyiramongi, Delphne Mutarangwe and Evodia Mukaremera all took two wickets each.
This morning, Rwanda takes on Kenya while Tanzania entertains defending champions Uganda later in the day.
At the end of the round-robin contest, the top two will face off in Sunday’s final.
