Editor,
My attention was drawn to an article entitled: "TIG Boss Reinstates Sacked Employees”(Newtimes, November 23).
Though it’s true that the office of Ombudsman asked the Executive Secretary of Travaux d’Interêts Généraux (TIG), Evariste Bizimana, to re-instate 16 employees he had sacked, early this year, unfairly nearly two months after Tito Rutaremara’s directive, nothing has been done.
Bizimana has continued to disregard what the office of Ombudsman told him to do. Bizimana’s letter to the Ombudsman, promising that he would re-instate the former employees was not sincere, since he has refused to implement what he was asked to do. It makes us (former employees) wonder why the Ombudsman’s rules on the matter and those who are supposed to implement what he has recommended continue to disregard him.
I don’t think Bizimana is honest and may be he only wrote to the Ombudsman to reduce the pressure. Secondly, when Bizimana sacked us, he said openly that he was following the law. But now, he says he has changed his mind and is ready to re-instate us!! Is he now going to disregard the law and re-instate us?
