GAKENKE - Women in Gakenke District have been advised to seek loans from banking institutions to boost their businesses.
The advice was given at the annual congress of the National Women Council-CNF, in Gakenke. The meeting drew over 170 members from all districts in the Northern Province.
It resolved to support women in the rural communities to acquire loans to start income generating projects.
‘”Women still fear to get loans, we have a Guarantee Fund in the National Bank (BNR). How will we fight poverty in our families if we don’t invest in income generating projects,” the chairperson of the CNF, at the province Odette Bamurange, asked.
Earlier, while opening the meeting, Gakenke Mayor, Piere Damien Hakizayezu, asked women to be at the fore front in fighting domestic violence.
He asked women to develop a culture of saving and form business cooperatives, to support one another.
